Possible Performance Future
A Fabulous Time!
Using belly dance movements infused with modern dance technique, this class series will explore several combos to different songs.
Sara will break it all down for you in a warm and supportive class atmosphere. The idea of this series is to keep "inspired" in both its literal sense (from the latin "inspirare" -- to breathe deeply, and its figurative sense -- to instill ever renewing pleasure for dance in your heart through choreographic and emotional expression.)
Keep Inspired Series Goals:
-to truly find what keeps us inspired, even when we don't feel our best...
-the idea is that students will not be students but performers, participating in a professional dance company collective for 6 weeks.
-everyone takes part -- it is a collaboration -- dancers interact and create the choreographies together (under Sara's guidance of course) -- everyone works together to stay engaged in the process and inspired.
Sara Rodrigues Cabral Azorean-born Sara has lived a life of dance and theater arts since childhood. She has inspired audiences of all ages with her style, soulful presence, expert dance technique and personal warmth. Back on her Island, Sara was a principal dancer for Ballet Teatro Paz, a professional Ballet and Modern Dance company. She also acted, danced and sang on film in different projects. After moving to the U.S. over ten years ago, Sara was drawn to the Art of Belly Dance through her great friend and mentor, Melina of Daughters of Rhea, and has since become an accomplished professional. Sara is a caring teacher and a giving performer as well as a Pilates instructor certified by The Boston BodyWorks Studio with Kathy Van Patten.
Sara Cabral on Belly Dancing "My true inspiration to Dance is Music. When I listen to certain songs my whole being wakes up and focuses. My mind follows my body and creates a story. It becomes clear to me that there is a message, a purpose and a need for movement. And my biggest Love is to create those stories, to sculpt new movements and mix them up with the old ones, to create my own expression. My own Fusion. I like to mix things my way. I believe that technique is key as far as reaching a level in which people will follow and believe your story. Always continue to grow and learn and better your moves and your control. It's been a beautiful journey for me. I am proud to say I have Dance, Music and at times singing and theatre in my life. Most of all I am always excited about what I am going to do next."

Reviews of Moody Street Circus:
Philippe Petit, renowned funambulist most recently featured in Man on Wire, writes of Sacha Pavlata, Moody Street Circus Founder:
"I met Alexandre Pavlata in 1972 at the Cirque d'Hiver of Paris. He was helping some kids, backstage, to perfect their somersaults. I remember the gentle yet strong way he was directing their progresses, there was a lot of joy, but the results were prompt.
As I watch Sacha over the years, becoming slowly the "best circus teacher" (his well-earned reputation today), I realized that a very special chemistry was the secret of his so unique ability: Sacha could offer in the classes he gave, the flavor of European Circus Tradition. He was born and raised in a traveling circus family, therefore was quickly acquainted with the constant training, the tough discipline, the respect for other artists, and the ability to understand rigging and to perform all aspects of circus profession.
But Sacha had to offer, blended to this heritage, the benefits of his own life and personality: he has traveled all over the world, therefore mastering several languages, he had coached numerous pupils of diverse ways of life, nationalities, age, goals and talents, had become a father, and had developed a sparkling intelligence at introducing the unfamiliar to a demanding craft, with surprising results.
It is the blending of the deeply traditional world of European circuses, with a modern international expertise that made the instruction of Master Teacher Pavlata so effective, and so rich, so outstanding."
"I love this place; I want to live here! I could sleep on the trapeze!!!" (Birthday girl Stella Hu)
"This was the most exciting party my daughter has ever attended!" (Wellesley Mom)
"My 5th grade daughter has been taking a circus class at Moody Street Circus and she loves it! Her favorite activities are the silks and the lyra. It gives her such a sense of freedom and accomplishment! I see it every time she comes back from class. Thank you Melinda and Sacha for encouraging the students to push their limits in a safe, fun environment!" --

This turbo-charged level III class is designed for students who have taken at least 3 beginners sessions - either level I or level II - with Melina and wish to challenge themselves further with the understanding that a basic mastery of proper belly dance technique is expected. We will practice finger cymbals with footwork, drill technique and build on the Daughters of Rhea belly dance repertoire. We will also review and practice the fundamentals of belly dance, working with great music and learning Melina's Greco-Turkish gypsy-fusion style combinations. This class is also recommended for students who have studied at an intermediate/advanced level with other belly dance teachers but have not yet been exposed to Melina's style and technique. Bring your zills to class or borrow or purchase them from Melina. Class is conducted barefoot -- wear comfortable clothes you can dance and sweat in. You are welcome to attend class barefoot or wear nonskid socks or ballet slippers if you wish. Please don't wear dance shoes with heels as these are not suitable for Melina's energetic style of belly dance. You can wear coin hipscarves in class if you wish.
Pay the drop-in rate of $20 per class, payable at the door, or purchase a 10 class punch card either here or in class for $150. The card is good for any of Melina's regular group belly dance classes and lasts a year from purchase.
